I am in the early stages at planning a canoe trip on the Rideau Canal.
The final destination would be Kingston, I'm looking at a 5 day trip (4 nights) in those big aluminum canoes, with a group of 8 to 16 peoples. I'm not sure about our starting point yet, some of us have only little experience in a canoe but we are all in good to excellent physical condition (Military folks).
Could someone give me some pointers as far as reasonable daily distance to cover, I understand the locks make good camping sites (costs ?). Any web sites I should look at? Books? Brochures?. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have not done such a trip myself but I used to subscribe to KAnawa magazine. They had an article a trip wheree people were staying at Bed and Breakfasts along the route. Kind of a high class trip.. You could contact the Canadian Recreational Canoe Association and they may have back issues and/or other info.
Good luck

Hi Chris,
Like the Jones's, we did the whole Rideau Waterway a few years back. Their advice and comments are excellent
