I wonder if you will be able to get maps from the dpepartment of forestry?

This post is a bit old but in case anyone is interested, Chrismar makes two great maps specifically for kayaking in Georgian Bay. Once covers the the Mink McCoy Islands ( see http://www.chrismar.com/P05zFMM1.htm) , the other covers the Philip Edwards area near Killarney (see http://www.chrismar.com/P05zPEI1.htm)

You can pick nice maps up from MEC for the area.
