I am looking for recommendations on a lightweight (Royalite) tandem whitewater canoe. I know both Mohawk and Old Town make boats in this lighter ABS material, and I would like to hear from anyone who has paddled these boats in Class 2-3 whitewater.
Needs to be about 16' long, useable for tripping, highly manoeverable, symetrical, lots of rocker...
If anyone has a recommendation, or knows of one of these boats for sale please email me. Thanks.

Swift make a number of models in Royalite, however these are all asymetrical hull designs by John Winters. Why did you specify that the hull must be symmetrical? All this achieves is to impose an artificial constraint on the hull shape thereby making it more difficult for the canoe designer to design a hull with optimum performance.

Asymmetry gives one uneven handling conditions in wind, waves and current.
Scott Canoe has several Royalex and Royalite canoes. Call a Scott Dealer for info!

I have used both the Swift whitewater and flatwater asymmetrical boats in a wide variety of paddling conditions. The main reason to have an asymmetrical hull is so that the bow of the boat Turns easily (front end of boat is rockered) while the stern Tracks well (back end of the boat is flat). This is fine for flatwater paddling... and in fact I have a Swift kevlar Kipawa which is wonderful for flatwater paddling. For whitewater, I have not been impressed with the turning ability of any of the Swift boats.
For whitewater paddling I prefer a canoe where both ends turns easily and are highly rockered. I also want a boat that performs consistently in both front ferrys and well as back ferrys.
