The situation is always there, you take your kayak or canoe for a quiet day at the river and find the place full with other visitors who are more interested in having fun, talking loudly about their friends and ruining the vibes in so many other ways.
You might have experienced the situation from the other hand, planning a trip with friends and family, arriving there extra vibrant and happy just to encounter hostile looks from other people who act like you attack them personally.
I suppose that most of us have experienced both sides of the situation from time to time, the one when your the noisy group or person and the one when your the person trying to have a peaceful day meditating or just finding the personal private connection to nature.
Living with other people with different needs and desires can be rough I guess it would have been much easier if we all found a way to be around people that are synch to us most of the time.

Living in Florida, I know what you mean. But the joys of having a kayak is being able to go where motors, generators and boom boxes cannot. I spend a lot of time looking at charts to find the better places to get away. Not always possible, but some of the rivers here are wide enough to see others but not hear them. Just have to look.
Good paddling!
