I've been looking at 'Bending Branches' brand canoe paddles for canoe tripping. They seem very nice and are light weight. They list several styles on the web site. Anyone got any prefs? Thanks, Dave Conrad

Dave, I prefer the straight shaft Bending Branch with the rock guard. One reason is the flat blade. This is quieter in the water when you are maneuvering into wildlife than the paddles like Sawyer, which is a good paddle, that have the spine running down part of the blade which creates more turbulence and noise. I also prefer the handle which fits comfortably in the palm. Ron

Dave, I own the Bending Branches Arrow model and am very happy with it. I also own 2 Sawyer Cruisers and a Sawyer Bent shaft (which I never use). Ron

I purchased Bending Branches Traveler model paddles. They are straight paddles. I took my gram scale into the sporting shop and bought the 2 lightest ones they had.(22 oz. ea.) The scale blew away the clerk! Thanks for your input Dave Conrad
