I just ordered a Dagger Reflection canoe and need to outfit it/us with paddles and PFDs. Any recommendations on straight shaft/blade paddles for use primarily in non-white water canoeing? Also, any recommendation for reasonably priced and comfortable PFDs?

Thanks!

I would check out Canadian Tire for the paddles, they have inexpensive ($20-30)and fairly light weight wooden paddles with a resin tip so they don't splinter. I bought some there a few years ago and they're still in one piece. They also have PFDs, though I don't find them all that comfortable you can't beat the price. You may want to check out a store such as Trailhead or Mountain Equipment Co-op and try on as many PFDs as you can to find one that is the most comfortable for you. Oh, Trailhead and MEC also have paddles which you may want to check out.

Happy Paddling, Alex
