Considering purchasing a Scott Trillium (16' canoe. Does anyone have any opinions they'd like to share? Is the $500 for kevlar over fiberglass (with a 5lb weight savings) worth it?

you know I have never fully understood the 5 - 10 lb advantage of kevlar given the price premium it demands. I have fiberglass and am guite happy with it although I don't do any portaging. You could make up the 5lb difference by better planning the goods in your backpack!

Some people (my wife for instance) just can't carry that extra 10lb. I'd rather spend the $500 dollars on a better canoe than a better car, e.g. I got standard rather than automatic transmission.

I have a Trillium that I really like. It is fast for a 16 foot canoe, and tracks well. I like the long sliding bow seat that works well for solo use in reverse; though the long track is at expense of pack space. The seat hardware is slick and stiffens up the boat compared with seat hangers. They may be heavier than advertised
