Thanks for the reply's . Looks like I will have to try a little more experimentation ! Strikes me that the seating position is pretty similar to a Thermarest matress seat and I can sit in one of those for hours drinking wine without any problem Paddling and drinking don't go too well together though , it just keeps spilling !

Drink too much and _you_ will keep spilling (out of the boat).

This used to happen to me all the time, but without changing peddle position or seating arrangement it seldom happens now because I think a big key is to relax. I used to be brace with muscles tensed (not knowingly) and this can easily impact your entire lower body.

It happened to me too, still does at times, and I have a roomy boat (QCC 500). Two things I have found that help, besides trying to not be so tense: 1) Adjust backrest so you are sitting up straight, even slightly forward. This tends to take some pressure off the periformes (sp?) and sciatic nerves, or so a nurse told me. Haven't checked an anatomy book for accuracy, but *something* is getting pinched! 2) The other thing that really helps me is the installation of the inflatable Cascade 'thigh cushion' right in front of the seat. It is made for just this situation. Works great, and makes a good pillow at night!
