hey folks!

1st let me say that I just started ww kayaking this year.. rented a few times and got hooked. Bought myself a second hand Dagger Redline and love it. (very stable boat).

I cannot however; roll... i have practiced and practiced but to no avail.

I am aware of the technique as I go with people who have taken the course...tho i haven't. (mostly flatwater).

Sooo I am curious does anyone have some advice? its quite frustrating and slightly embarassing lol? I have not found to much info on the web regarding different approaches. (The way I have been shown is to put the paddle perpendicular to the boat..tip over then straighten up the paddle then push outwards)...

Guess I panic a little much... tried white water and it scared the sh%$% out of me. (Ottawa river..accross from Champlain bridge..) I learned a whole new respect for the sport tho.. i had it coming!.

Dude,

You're better off taking a class. Madawaska is close right now, I was there two weeks ago. It is a great place for a newbie. I took some classes in the beginning and I'm, still, taking classes to improve technique. Rolling is a skill that requires good technique and a lot of practice to get it right. Your learning curve won't be as steep as it is right now if you take a class. My 2 cents!
