As others have, I stumbled on this site looking for something else. Been wandering around looking at some of the forums. Seems focused on something I enjoy. Thought I'd join and give it a try.

Most of my kayaking is day tripping and a little kayak fishing in and around the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers.

Daniel, welcome to the forum I am happy you decided to join us. How often do you go out kayaking? Are the Potomac and the Rappahannock Rivers closeby where you live?

Between Spring and early fall I try to get one day of paddling in every other weekend.

As the Crow flies, the Potomac is about 3 miles away. I usually go about 20 miles further south to paddle. Further south the scenery is better and it is a lot less citified.

The Rappahannock River is about 40 miles south of us. Our daughter lives near the river. So I try to get some paddle time in whenever we visit. Most of my Rappahannock river paddling is between Urbanna, VA and the river’s mouth. In May my wife and I plan on doing a few day paddles around New Point Light (abandoned) and Mobjack Bay (where the Rappahannock enters the Chesapeake Bay).

A couple times a year my wife and I camp along the North/South fork of the Shenandoah River. We usually get in a couple of long afternoon/early evening paddles whenever we camp along that river.

Besides these rivers we paddle local lakes and reservoirs.

Someday I would like to paddle waters off the coast of Canada. I’d like to see arctic/northern whales and ice burgs from a kayak.
