Greetings....

I'm curious about paddling upstream or downstream from the village of Lanark.

Is this a good river to paddle for about an hour each direction - out and back?

Which is the better direction to paddle and where to launch?

Few or no portages would be best since we are paddling sea kayaks...

Many thanks....

Upstream and back is a lovely paddle. There's a firing range close by during part of the paddle but if you don't mind that...

Good question... my impression is that it is... but you might want to call. Me, I'm paddling Sunday off Brockville in the St. Lawrence. The Clyde will wait for another weekend.

It was a wonderful paddle this morning (Labour Day). Fortunately there was no target practice - maybe this is an infrequent occurrence here. Alas, the 'rapids' aren't to be seen given the long dry period we've had this summer but, because of the dam in Lanark, the river/marsh had lots of water.
