Hi,

I will settle in Ottawa next week, for one year. I would like to know if the area is good for white water kayaking. 1-Is it possible to practise in winter (stupid question ?) ? 2-Is there a good wave to practise (or try to practise) rodeo near Ottawa ? Or even a rodeo club ? 3- What about a slalom club and/or slalom pool ? 4- I am also looking for a good club to practise white water kayaking. Do you know a good one ? I heard of one called 'Coureurs des bois'. Do you have an opinion about it ?

Thanks Fabien, from Paris.

Greetings Fabien and Welcome to Ottawa!

Ottawa is a great place for white water kayaking although January & February can be a wee bit too nippy. There are many fans who are out on the river almost every other month. We are exhibiting in the CRCA (Canadian Recreational Canoe Association) show again this spring, thats a good place to meet and get info about canoe and kyaking. This years show is in Ottawa March 23, 24, and 25 many clubs are there...

The whitewater magazine for these parts is 'Rapid' their website is www.rapidmag.ca

Visit our shop for maps and canoe / kyak info.

I've ever seen was by calling Sean Mannion at Outaouais Adventures, Bryson, Quebec. Incredible kayaking, very scary during Winter, but they have been doing it. Joyce at Belle Terre Gardens.
