Try Harborfront Canoe and Kayak Center. They are at Queens Quay They provide courses as well as boats. http://www.paddletoronto.com/kayaking.htm You can rent a decent touring boat (wilderness systems) and go to the Toronto islands. It's a fun trip. If you are afirst time paddler you can go to Kelso concervation area in Milton. Very flat lake and boats always available Cheers

It's a bit of a drive but the Welland Canal is a good place to start.

Very calm water.

Email me if you want directions.

I rescued a paddler that headed out from Harbourfront C&K Centre a few weeks ago. He had dumped in the harbour and couldn't get back into the boat. The kayak coaming was broken and not firmly attached to the deck. The rudder was missing and the attachment for the pintle was broken off. Decent touring boats? Yeah right!

I personally keep people away from that outfit.
