Has anyone, or do you know of anyone that has canoed Lake Manicouagan?

Some friends have gone up on fishing trips. Apparently the trout fishing is fantastic. I will ask them about the details as I was always curious about this old impact crater lake. Please let us know what you find. Anyone who has seen this photo cannot help but be intriqued. http://landsat7.usgs.gov/gallery/images/ L7_219_13_24_06012001_400.jpg

Yes it is an amazing looking lake. We drove by it on our way to Lab City a few years ago.

I would really like to canoe around the island. But before I do I would like to hear other peoples stories about the lake. I would imagine the weather is quiet fickle.

My estimate time length for the trip is about 20 days.

I am also interested in canoeing lake Manicouagan. Saw it from a plane a week ago. I would like to spend some qweeks 'kayakingaa meteorite'! Some questions which you may be able to answer: - permitted? - doable? - nice? It seems to me that this will much depend on whether this is an inconstant-level reservoir with ugly bare rock sides at lower water levels, or a constant-level reservoir with vegetation down to the waterline. - time of the year - second half of August with insects gone and not yet frozen?

Hope you have some information for me!

You might try looking in Canadian Canoe Routes http://www.myccr.com/ You could post your request in the Quebec Forum section. Good luck.
