Not quite in the area you describe but Nantahala Outdoor Center in Wisener North Carolina is as good as any there is with broad range of offerings, exceptional facilities, outstanding instructors and large choice of rivers. River Sports on the Yough in Confluence PA is limited in its offerings and facilities but does a good job too with a small but dedicated staff
