i'm looking for advice/recommendations on kayak purchasing.
i've done some flat water paddling in rented kayaks and am interested in purchasing a boat, either used or new.
i would ideally like to find a boat that would work reasonably well for both flat water paddling and easy/moderate whitewater (class I-II, possibly some easier III's sometime later down the road). also, a model with the capability to stow/strap a bit of gear down for light overnight use would be a bonus. perhaps that's asking a bit much. i don't know.
anyway, if there are any suggestions out there regarding boats that may meet this criteria, i'm all ears. i really have no preference between closed or open hull boats.

hello Micah,
i would have to suggest the polymer(plastic) if you intend to do some more rugh stuff with it. polymer cost less and is allot harder to break, how ever if you succed in breaking it, it can be tricky to fix.
I guess it comes down to how much you would like to spend, I personally have a Necky Zoar, it is a plastic kayak, very stable and quite good for multiday trips, the longes I have been on is 5 days, I have gone down the rapids at champlain bridge with it. it performad verey well.
what ever you do, be shure to paddle the boat before you buy it. make shure you are comftable in it.
if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.
see ya out there.
