...in my Old Town Discovery Scout. I love the canoe, but I'm tired of having to 'wiggle' my butt backwards every few minutes. I figure the straps would help me keep my butt on the seat. I have a pad to kneel on, but it slides when it gets wet. Should I put ankle pads in too? I like the idea of my position in the canoe being a little more stable. How do I determine the position of the pads? TIA, Dave.

Do you want these for whitewater, or just to keep you on the seat? If just to keep you on, then glueing down some flat knee pads will do the job with much less fuss, more utility, and less weight added to the canoe.
