I have a lot of experience kayaking on quiet waters, and wanted to have a go a white water, but know nothing about it, what kind of gear I would need, are there outfits that you can rent gear from and so on? Any information would be very welcome. Thanks.

Firstly you would need a white water boat, and paddle.Assuming you have a PFD it may not be suitable for white water ,You need a correct fitting one. I would recomend a class from your local paddle shop, they probally ret gear as well as run beginner trips ect Jules

Yes, you would need a whitewater kayak, should have a partner, so there is someone there for both of you. A throw rope that floats would be a safe idea and a proper fitting PFD. We white water in a group of four, and that assures us there is always someone to help if needed and the more people the more fun it is. Safety classes and rescue classes were the best thing we ever invested in for our adventures on the rapids.
Happy paddling
