I am about to buy my first kayak, preferably an all rounder and wanted some advice as to what to look for. I am not particularly interested in white water, but wanted to know what the difference would be between a sea kayak and a river kayak? and what the pros and cons of sit in side as opposed to sit on top? Thanks for all your help.

Well, I have tried all three kayaks, sit on top, recreational, and sea. If you are looking to do rivers and big bodies of water, I would recommend a basic recreational kayak. Sit on top, I found you can get very wet, sea kayaks you can only manuver in big bodies of water, and I have had my recreational kayak down many a rivers and open bodies of water and did just fine.
