After a good weekend of using my new canoe it was determined that it is a little rough on the inside for bare skin. So, for those who kneel down in it, or rub their hand across the inside of it there is a chance for splinters.
Does anyone have suggestions for smoothing this all up?
Would sanding it lightly with emery cloth, or coating it with something like a clear coat help out?

Most paddlers who like to kneel install some foam kneeling pads in the appropriate places.
You can get these at canoe stores, or do as I did and use Wal-Mart gardeners' kneeling pads at $3 each (less than half the price of the canoe stores).
Use contact adhesive to glue them in.
