Hi,
I am a newbie.
I am thinking of getting into canoeing with my two sons. I see Coleman canoes for sale everywhere. They also seem quite a bit cheaper than others.
My needs are simply recreational. We will take it fishing a lot on calm water. Do you think Coleman will suit my needs?
thanks

If you need to portage they are heavy and uncomfy to carry.
They are very good for straight line paddling 'cos they have a pronounced keel so if you ever want to try white water (even easy) it will make it much harder as you need to make quick turns.
They are not very comfortable to spend a day in (all metal poles and plastic seats with no where to put your feet if you choose to kneel - useful if the wind picks up to keep your balance).
The material they are made of is not particularly durable.
If you just want to go out on flat water close to shore in good weather and you can park where you put in and take out they will do you fine.
