Does anyone have any experience in taking an infant on overnights into Algonquin Park or other areas? Especially diaper dilemmas, portage problems or stuff you didn't even think of the first time but made sure you didn't leave out the second...?
Thanks

I would not travel with an infant in a kayak. Too easy to tip over. Any fruitful exchange of ideas on a controversial topic begins with two open

I did the Lake Temagami-Diamond Lake-Wabakima Lake-Obabika Lake route this summer. We took our three boys including the 13 month old. It was a distance of about 130 km with some tough portages and a lot of gear.
Diapers must be burned. The best thing is to get a hot fire going and open the diapers up. The plastic part of the diaper will separate, flame and burn off. The gel will put the fire out however so you have to let it dry out by the fire. Eventually that will burn up as well. It takes a lot of poking to get rid of them but it is the only way.
You'll have a lot more gear, much more than the other people you'll see around you. Plan for it. Portaging is easy, you just have to carry the baby all the way through.
The best thing is to not be afraid to go, I swear babies love the experience and the fresh air. You can get a little sun shade umbrella that hooks onto the gunnel to keep the sun off.
