Hey Ottawa-area Canoe People,

I bought an older canoe and need to replace the thwarts and the yoke (they are rotting). Any suggestions about where I can either a) buy these parts and replace on my own or b) take my canoe somewhere to have someone else fix it for me. Thanks in advance.

I think BearMoubntain might be near you . If you check the buyers guide or the add section in Kanawa something should pop up.

A yoke and thwarts are pretty easy to replace yourself. You can get them at Trailhead or MEC. Now gunwales, that's a different matter....

Ottawa Valley Canoe & Kayak has all the parts you need and will advise you on how to do a professional restoration or will do the work (part or all) at a very reasonable price. They are on Hwy 17 west, about 15 minutes from the Corel Centre.

I'd echo this - they did repairs etc. on a Kevlar canoe a few years ago for me. I was very pleased with the quality, service, and friendliness...
