Hi Guys - please forgive me butting in but I'd like to build a wooden canoe similar to those used in Canada. Can any good person point me in the direction of a source of plans please?

Many thanks

Best wishes

Hi Oliver!

Sooner or later you will probably hear from William Watt on this topic, he posts here often.

This interesting site that I have visited might help you: http://home.clara.net/gmatkin/design.htm

Cheers,

Oliver,

There is a great book 'CANOECRAFT' a Harrowsmith illustrated guide to fine woodstrip construction - Ted Moores and Merilyn Mohr (Firefly Books) ISBN0-920656-24-2. I purchased mine at Lee Valley Tools in Ottawa. They are online. http://www.leevalley.com/home/main.asp I haven't built yet, 3 small children, job yadayada

Giday Sandy, Chuckle! Good to hear, although halfway through a 2KM portage I would trade the asthetics of a 'stripper' for the near weightlessness of a carbon-kevlar design any day <grin>.

Mike, Sorry to take so long to respond, I've been off on a canoe trip for the past week, and with the power outage have been offline.
